We are beyond excited to finally share our summer 2020 HUE session!

Location: Heber Down Conservation Area, Whitby, ON.

We were able to safely share space with nine womxn of colour from our community, over two days in August, in the natural beauty of the Heber Down Conservation Area. Known for its scenic views, Heber Downs is one of our local favourite spots. From fishing, biking, natural walks to picnicking, this conversation area offers a variety of activities for the recreation-minded.

Let's all take a minute to appreciate how these stunning and effortless these group shots came out! All these womxn brought such great energy to our shoot, and after a short while, we couldn't even believe that they did not know each other before this session.

This is the power of our community.

For the theme of this summer shoot, we really wanted to focus in on "skin" for so many reasons. With the current social climate, there was, and is, a need to amplify our lived experiences as BIWoC and honour our beauty, strength and resiliency. So, we asked these nine womxn to answer the following questions:

  • What's your name and age?
  • What's your connection to Durham Region?
  • What does being a womxn of colour mean to you?
  • How would you describe the skin that you are in?

Like always, if you want to read their responses to these questions and simply get to know them, be sure to head over to our WOCDC HUE account (@wocdchue).
