WOCDC is all about making a positive impact in our community. Whether it's hosting social events to encourage networking and building connections, collaborating with local community organizations and small businesses, or raising awareness on important issues, we are committed to making meaningful contributions to Durham Region, Canada.

February 2019

Built a Community of 2000+ People

In under two years of operations and have made meaningful connections with Black, Indigenous and Womxn of Colour living in or connected to Durham Region.

Launched Our First Holiday Campaign (Five Days of Giveaways)

And supported six local BIWOC businesses.

Raised Over $2000

In community donations to support our programs and initiatives.

Including Durham Riot Radio, Learn with Lels, Leaders in Colour, and the Unapologetic podcast by Brock Women in Business.

Collaborated With 15+ Community Organizations

Including the Aids Committee of Durham, Durham College, Community Development Council of Durham, The Parkwood Estate, The Villij, and more.

Hosted Our First Virtual Workshop

In collaboration with a local entrepreneur to facilitate a discussion around cultural food and demonstrated how to make a delicious meal.

And engaged with a total of 54 participants in a curated safer space for community members.

Lead 9 Live Community-Care Sunday Conversations

Using Instagram Live to collaborate with community leaders and encourage self-care.

With the goal of highlighting the beauty of Durham Region and the beauty within Black, Indigenous and Womxn of Colour.
