The second location for our HUE photo series session was the stunning Parkwood Estate in Oshawa! This National Historic Site faithfully preserves its art, architecture, gardens and more. Like in our Fall 2019 shoot, we asked our participants the following questions:
- What is your name and age?
- What is your connection to Durham Region?
- What does being a womxn of colour mean to you?
- Why is building community important to you?
And here are some of the responses from our beautiful participants:
"Building community is important to me because, in our patriarchal society, us womxn are constantly pinned against one another, and view each other as competition, when we are actually all connected. Building community is vital, as it truly does take a village. There is so much power in sisterhood, and I think it’s so important we help each other build one another up rather than to tear each other down." - Erin
